Bulletproof Matcha Recipe with Turmeric and Peppermint Essential Oils

I start every single morning with this Matcha Bulletproof Latte! Let’s make one together.

Matcha is a Green Tea powder. It is made by grinding up Green Tea leaves.
Matcha contains the following benefits:
  • High in antioxidants
  • Some studies have shown that Matcha may protect the health of your liver
  • Boosts brain function
  • Promotes heart health
  • Can help you lose weight

Matcha is very easy to prepare, and this latte is just as simple.

If you have been around the Keto community, you may have heard of bulletproof coffee. Bulletproof Coffee is a mix of coffee, MCT oil, and grass-fed butter. Well, we are taking that same idea and making a bulletproof tea.

You will want to start with a cup of warm liquid/milk. You can use nut milk, oat milk, hot water, cow’s milk, whatever you like. I like to make mine with almond milk.

Once your milk is warmed up, add a scoop of Matcha power. I like to use the ceremonial grade Matcha, because it does not contain any sugar. I will link the one I have below in the recipe.

Give you Matcha and milk a little swirl and add a scoop of unflavored Bulletproof collagen. I do not have any affiliation to the Bulletproof brand, I just really like their collagen because it blends well and does not have a flavor. My favorite part of this collagen though is that it comes from grass-fed cows, and I think that is important.

For the final part, my favorite part, add a tablespoon of Kerrygold grass-fed butter. Kerrygold is an Irish brand of butter, and the Irish make excellent butter. A few years ago, my husband and I visited Ireland and I fell in love with Kerrygold butter. Before going to Ireland, I didn’t really have a preference on butter, but while in Ireland they fed us this delicious butter with everything, and I’ve been a fan ever since. On the plane, my husband looked over and I was eating a packet of butter, which is something I had never done before. I also do not have any affiliation with the Kerrygold brand, I just love their butter.

Once you’ve got all your ingredients in your cup, take a hand whisk and mix it all together. The hand whisk will make your latter frothy, like the ones at Starbucks; it also makes the latte creamy. Fun fact I was a barista for over a decade. I worked as a barista making coffee and tea all throughout high school, undergrad, and graduate school. I actually met my husband while working at Starbucks through grad school. He was one of my customers and would come in before work each day.

Note, make sure you do not fill your cup all the way up before using the hand whisk, the froth will run over the top if you do.

That is all you really need to make this Bulletproof Matcha latte, but I like to mix things up every now and then and play around with flavors. One of my favorite essential oils to add to this latte is Peppermint oil and sometimes I will add a drop of Turmeric oil.

Peppermint oil gives the latte a nice minty flavor, but Peppermint oil also contains many benefits, such as:
  • Promotes healthy respiratory function and clear breathing
  • Promotes digestive health

You can the Turmeric oil and Peppermint oil together or you can do them separately, it is totally up to you and your flavor preferences. Just know that the essential oils will change up the flavor, so if you really like the taste of Matcha don’t add essential oils.

Turmeric oil has an earthy flavor and contains the following benefits:
  • Supports health glucose and lipid metabolism
  • Enhance cellular antioxidant enzymes
  • Supports healthy nervous and cellular function
  • Promotes healthy immune function
  • Supports clean and healthy-looking skin and reduces the appearance of blemishes

Lastly, I top my latte with a little splash of hot water, but this is totally optional.  This latte is filling and delicious, it is creamy, and contains many health benefits. I like this better than coffee because it does not cause me to experience the ups and downs that coffee used to, but it still gives me that boost of caffeine.
