Biohacking with doTERRA | How to Increase Your Energy and Vitality to Live Better Longer


Have you heard the buzz on biohacking your body?
 
Biohacking your body means changing your chemistry and your physiology through science and self-experimentation to increase your energy and vitality. In this article I am breaking down biohacking your body so you can become the best version of you, live longer, have more energy, and be happier.
 
We are undoubtedly living longer, but the real goal is to ensure those extra years are brimming with vitality and well-being. This blog post was inspired by my 40th birthday which occurred this week. I swear I feel better now than I did in my 20s and 30s. I have more energy; I no longer need to take naps during the day. My cognition has improved, and I have noticed myself retaining more information. My skin has that youthful glow. Even my hair has made a comeback. My hormones have settled down and I no longer suffer from extreme mood swings.
 
My journey into wellness began back in 2011 when I started using doTERRA products. In my early 20s, I faced some significant health challenges – hair loss, unpredictable skin, mood swings that could rival a pendulum, fatigue, and even car naps during lunch breaks. I was in a constant battle with my well-being, and it wasn't pretty. But then, I met some amazing holistic healthcare practitioners and a chiropractor who opened my eyes to the potential for lifestyle changes to alter the course of our health. I was warned that if I continued down the same path without change, I'd develop an autoimmune disease. The warning signs were there.
 
I stumbled upon the term biohacking last year, but it's a practice that many of us have been engaged in for centuries. Essentially, biohacking is about actively manipulating or "hacking" biological systems to achieve desired outcomes, such as improved health, increased longevity, enhanced cognition, and overall wellness. This resonates with me deeply because before my doTERRA journey, I worked as an occupational therapist with the aging community. I noticed something intriguing – some individuals in their 90s and even 100s recovered faster and more effectively from injuries, surgeries, or health setbacks than those in their 50s and 60s facing similar challenges. What made the difference? It boiled down to how they had been caring for their health for decades before these incidents occurred, along with the power of mindset, which I'll touch on shortly.
 
For me, longevity runs in the family. My great aunt recently celebrated her 104th birthday, and her sister lived to be 105. They imparted invaluable wisdom about the significance of nutrition and wholesome foods. They were farmers, relishing butter, bacon, fresh meats, and vibrant veggies while steering clear of processed foods.
