How to Use doTERRA TerraZyme | Why You Need Digestive Enzymes Daily

Ready to get a little nerdy and learn some science?

Let’s talk about enzymes, what they are, and why you need them.

Enzymes enable molecules to be changed from one form to another. They are particularly important in ensuring that food is digested and processed, that nutrients are absorbed efficiently, and essentially help our bodies maintain a steady energy production throughout the day.

Three Main Enzyme Groups

  • Metabolic Enzymes
  • Digestive Enzymes
  • Food Enzymes

Metabolic Enzymes

  • Responsible for cell growth, cell repair, cell maintenance
  • Convert nutrient molecules such as proteins, fats, and carbohydrates into fuel and energy for the body.

Digestive Enzymes

  • Complex proteins that facilitate absorption by breaking down food
  • Produced in the pancreas, the mouth, stomach, and small intestine

Food Enzymes

  • Metabolic enzymes and digestive enzymes are produced within the body, while food enzymes come from consuming food
  • Often found in raw fruits and vegetables that are grown in nutrient rich soil
  • Coenzymes are destroyed when the food is cooked

Food Enzymes are an important part of the trio, but many of us, despite our best efforts, are not getting enough food enzymes. This can cause enzyme deficiency which results in the body not digesting food properly.

Symptoms of Enzyme Deficiency Include:

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Fatigue
  • Mood Swings
  • Thinning hair
  • Rashes

The good news… there are supplements we can take to combat this issue.

I mentioned above that the body naturally produces metabolic and digestive enzymes, but what I didn’t say is that, around age 30 our bodies start to decrease in the natural production of these enzymes.

doTERRA makes a lovely whole food enzyme complex that can correct enzyme deficiency.

TerraZyme is doTERRA’s digestive enzyme complex.

You can watch my video where I discuss TerraZyme below.

How Does TerraZyme Work?

The below statement was taken directly from doTERRA’s TerraZyme product page.

“DigestZen TerraZyme Digestive Enzyme Complex is a proprietary blend of active whole-food enzymes and supporting cofactors that are often deficient in cooked, processed, and preservative-laden foods. The powerful combination of digestive enzymes found in DigestZen TerraZyme supports the body’s constant production of enzymes critical for healthy biochemical functions, including healthy digestion of food nutrients and cellular metabolism of nutrients to energy. DigestZen TerraZyme includes a variety of whole-food enzymes that help with the digestion of proteins, fats, complex carbohydrates, sugars, and fiber.”

TerraZyme is actually one of the top 10 products reordered from doTERRA each month on the Loyalty Rewards Program. Wondering what other 9 products people can’t live without check out the blog post I wrote on them below.

  • Healthy digestion
  • Metabolize processed foods
  • Conversion of food nutrient to energy

It is recommended that TerraZyme be taken with food, which is going to help you absorb nutrients better, improve digestion, and clear out the little microvilli that are in your intestines. They will also help regulate your bowel movements.

As I mentioned in my “So you want to talk about nutrition?” blog post, “death begins in the colon.

Colon health is vital to living a long and healthy life. The digestive tract, especially the colon, is the sewer system of the body; and that system requires regular cleaning if you want to stay healthy.

Signs of a toxic colon include irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, stomach pain, lack of energy, digestive problems…

It has been said that a toxic colon contributes to almost every disease suffered by the human race.

Having regular bowel movements is a sign of a healthy colon and TerraZyme can help with that regulation.

Unrelated to the digestive systems as I mentioned above metabolic enzymes are responsible for cell growth, cell repair, and cell maintenance. Which means that TerraZyme can also help to heal wounds more efficiently by promoting cell growth.

I was drawn to TerraZyme because I was having significant breakouts that required different medications and treatments. I started to use some of the essential oils that are good for healing skin, the Lifelong Vitality, and then TerraZyme. I think the TerraZyme was key in calming my skin and promoting healing.

Already know TerraZyme is a must have? You can purchase it  below.

How to Optimize Your TerraZyme

  • Drink lots of water because water is how TerraZyme is activated.
  • Add a few drops of lemon to your water to bring your body to a more alkaline state.
  • Take with food to promote proper digestion.
  • Take on an empty stomach to promote cell growth, repair, and maintenance.
  • Take 2-3 a day if you are trying to improve a related condition.
  • If you are trying to optimize your body function and overall health, I recommend taking 4-6 (take them spread out through the day).

I keep my bottle of TerraZyme by my toothbrush so that I remember to take it before bed every night. I just pop one with a little glass of water before bed.
